Scammers keep developing new tricks to try to snag money from users, and the newer types of tricks involve the use of ransomeware. The scammers infect vulnerable machines thriugh use of a computer virus, which locks the computer and files and demands a payment for ts release.These forms of viruses also get the user by mimcking police or secuirty services.

Tips to Help stop Ransomware Scammers 

1.) Identify the Scam 
      - ROCKITS will always introduce themselves when they take control of your computer. 
      - Catalyst does not have any outside source IT. All IT is internal come to US if any issues. 
      - No law enforcement agency will inform users of activites through pop-up windows 
      - No one will demand a payment over the internet

2.) Regularly Back up your computer 
      - Back up  your files using Google Drive or One Drive
      - This will give you the ability to restore your computer without losing all you valuable information 

3.) DO NOT PAY THE RANSOM 
      - There no guarantee the scammers will actually unlock your computer , so don't make any payments. 
      - Notify the Federal Bureau of investigetion: Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)
